When: Mondays through Fridays, from 3:30 pm until 6:00 pm
Ages: 1 – 8 years
KinderHaus invites children into a nurturing, language-rich environment filled with creativity, movement, nature, storytelling, and hands-on discovery. Rooted in our German immersion model, each day is designed to spark imagination, build confidence, and support developmental growth across languages and cultures.
Monday: Nature & Science Club
KinderHaus Nature & Science Explorers is a hands-on, inquiry-based afterschool program designed to spark curiosity, a love for science, and a deep appreciation for the natural world in young learners. Each week, children explore exciting scientific concepts both indoors and outdoors. Guided by their stuffed friend, Fred die Forscher-Ameise (Fred the Research Ant). Fred helps lead experiments, investigate natural phenomena, and ask big questions that inspire young minds to think like real scientists.
Children might observe ants up close under a microscope, then compare what they see to ants they discover in the park. Or they might explore chemical reactions by learning how to blow up a balloon without using a pump or their breath! These playful experiences are designed to nurture critical thinking, curiosity, and confidence.
One of our teachers brings direct experience from working with Haus der kleinen Forscher (“Little Scientists’ House”) at a previous kindergarten in Germany, an initiative dedicated to high-quality early STEM learning. We’re proud to bring that same spirit of joyful discovery to KinderHaus!
(STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
Tuesday: Dance Club
The KinderHaus Dance Club Afterschool is a joyful and energetic movement class where children explore dance, yoga, and creative movement games in both indoor and outdoor settings. Each session encourages kids to move freely, express themselves through rhythm and play, and build strength, balance, and coordination.
With a mix of music, mindfulness, and fun, Dance Club supports the development of confidence, body awareness, and a lifelong love of movement. One of our teachers is a certified yoga instructor with extensive experience in movement education, bringing depth, care, and expertise to every session.
Beyond the physical benefits, regular movement supports academic learning by enhancing focus, memory, and cognitive flexibility. It also helps improve brain function, emotional regulation, and overall readiness to learn.
Wednesday: Literacy Club/ Reading & Writing
The KinderHaus Literacy Book Club is an AfterSchool program designed to nurture a love of reading, writing, and storytelling. Tailored to each child’s age and developmental stage, the program invites children to dive into books and story plots, play with language through engaging games, and take part in creative literacy activities that build vocabulary, comprehension, and early writing skills.
One of our dedicated teachers who has been successfully leading our reading and writing AfterSchool program for the past two years, will now offer this enriching experience to children of all age groups. Through age-based groups, children will engage with classic books like “Petterson & Findus or “Elmar”, seasonal stories like “Bist du der Frühling?”, and writing projects that support foundational literacy development. Children will also be encouraged to bring in their favorite books, which may become the inspiration for the week’s themes and activities. Allowing their personal interests to guide the learning experience. Whether listening to a story, reading aloud, or expressing their own ideas through drawing and writing, every child is supported on their journey toward becoming a joyful, confident communicator and lifelong lover of language.
Thursday: Kamishibai – Story Theater
Step into the magical world of Kamishibai, a traditional Japanese form of paper theater storytelling! In this creative AfterSchool program, children will explore the art of visual storytelling by watching, listening, and crafting their own illustrated tales. Through drawing and imagination, they’ll bring characters and narratives to life. Led by one of our teachers who has been working with Kamishibai in Germany, this program blends art, language, and culture in a joyful way that nurtures creativity and strengthens brain development. Stories will be selected based on the seasons, the children’s interests, and timeless favorites, like the beloved classic “Grüffelo.”
Kamishibai supports learning, problem-solving, and critical thinking by engaging children in a rich, multisensory storytelling experience that sparks imagination and expressive confidence.
Friday: Art Club – Atelier 312
