Early Childhood Programs at KinderHaus
A gentle and joyful start for children ages 6 months to 5 years.
At KinderHaus, we believe that every stage of early childhood deserves nurturing care, thoughtful engagement, and joyful discovery. From our Preschool (6 months–2 years) to PreK (3–5 years), we offer a warm, family-oriented environment where children grow through hands-on exploration, strong social connections, and full German language immersion.
Whether your child is learning to crawl or composing their first story, our educators meet them with care, curiosity, and a deep respect for how young children learn best—through play, movement, language, and relationships.
Why start at 6 months?
‘Startklar’—Ready from the beginning
Infants and toddlers flourish in calm, consistent, and sensory-rich environments. In Krippe, we gently guide children as they:
- Build trust and form secure attachments
- Explore the world through touch, sound, and movement
- Develop body awareness and emerging independence
- Reach developmental milestones at their own pace
Through close observation and collaboration with families, our teachers ensure a smooth transition into group life, laying the foundation for confident, lifelong learning.
How do children become bilingual so early?
Emerging Literacy & Language
Language immersion begins on day one. Across both age groups, we foster communication and literacy through:
- Singing, storytelling, rhymes, and picture books
- Positive peer interactions and teacher modeling
- Visual and auditory memory development
- Opportunities to express emotions and ideas
Preschoolers continue to deepen their language skills with early reading and writing foundations, including:
- Visual and auditory discrimination
- Verbal recall and comprehension
- Story creation and dramatic expression
How do we explore math and science through play?
Mathematics & Scientific Discovery
From mixing paint to counting pinecones, children explore math and science concepts through hands-on, sensory-rich experiences. We encourage inquiry, experimentation, and discovery using everyday materials and natural elements.
Focus Areas:
- Early numeracy: counting, sorting, patterns
- Spatial awareness and measurement
- Observing change (melting, mixing, floating/sinking)
- Introduction to tools (magnets, magnifying glasses, color wheels)
- Outdoor observation of weather, light, seasons, day/night cycles
- Recording and predicting outcomes like little scientists
How do children learn about people, places, and culture?
Social Studies & Cultural Awareness
KinderHaus classrooms are vibrant communities where children learn to cooperate, celebrate diversity, and explore their place in the world. Through rituals, stories, cooking, and cultural traditions, children experience connection and inclusion.

- Exploring family stories, foods, and music
- Building respect for self, others, and community
How do art and creativity support development?
Art & Dramatic Play
Art is more than an activity—it’s a way for children to communicate and explore their world. At KinderHaus, children create daily using a wide variety of materials. Projects emphasize process over product, promoting creativity and emotional expression.
Focus Areas:
- Fine motor skills: drawing, painting, cutting, molding
- Exploring color, shape, size, and texture
- Spatial relationships and symbolic thinking
- Emotional expression through open-ended projects
- Using natural and recycled materials for sustainable art
Why is music such a big part of every day?
Music & Movement
Music is woven into our daily rhythm, helping children develop coordination, rhythm, memory, and language. Children sing, dance, play instruments, and participate in movement stories—all while immersed in the joyful sounds of German and global music.
Focus Areas:
- Rhythm, melody, and beat
- Movement and motor coordination
- German songs and traditional fingerplays
- Musical storytelling and dramatization
- Playful use of rhythm instruments and props
- Fostering a love of music in everyday life
How do we help children feel connected and confident?
Social-Emotional Growth & Independence
From first steps to first friendships, we guide children in:
- Forming trusting relationships with caregivers and peers
- Developing self-regulation and emotional awareness
- Building resilience through routines and transitions
- Practicing early independence in toileting, dressing, and problem-solving
Group rituals like morning circle, storytime, and goodbye songs help children feel safe, seen, and secure.
